Fitting cowboy boots
Did you know that fitting Western Style Cowboy boots is a little different from fitting the average shoe? It is important to realize that when fitting a new cowboy boot it is not going to feel like a perfect fit right away. Many people order their regular size in a cowboy boot and end up returning them to the source they purchased them from because they think they are too big. In reality the boots are probably a good fit and the unknowing customer is going to end up exchanging them for a boot that will always be too tight and uncomfortable. A new cowboy boot needs to fit snug across the top of the foot, with the widest part of the foot sitting in the widest part of the boot. The heel of the boot should actually slip a bit in a new boot as the sole is not broken in and is not giving at all. As the boot breaks in this slip will minimize. The length of the toe in a cowboy boot is not a good indicator of fit as they are naturally longer than the average shoe and no one has pointy little toes that are going to fit down into the toe box comfortably! Just make sure that the widest part of your foot rests in the widest part of the boot and that you have some slip in the heel and before you know it you will be out there doing the Boot Scootin' Boogie or what ever your heart desires in a comfortable, well fitting pair of western boots! Enjoy and have fun!

I work in a tack shop where we sell western boots and we have a web site that sells them as well.
